Top 10 Most shocking moments...this week!

#10.Grandpa turns 90 this week! He survived World War II in the prison camps. He survived Stan and his sister as teenagers. He survived 2 wives. He is now happily single and living on his own!

#9. I got a tree decorated! Wish it had colored lights, but I love the flocked look!

#8. We had a HUGE wind storm, took down our Christmas ights and brought in the biggest tumble weeds I have ever seen!

#7. St. George has snow!

Enough for a
snowman!

I took this of Ben the first day of the storm. We actually had two days of snow and the snowman could have been twice as big! The mountain shot is taken on day 2.

#6. Favorite family pet...RATS! Yes, it is a rat, not a mouse. They are great! They don't run and hide like other rodent pets. They come to you and they can be confined to a cage when you don't want to bother with them. Ben loves animals and this is my limit. No dogs allowed. (Unless it is Chris and Saras dog visiting.)

St. George has snow!

5. I got straight A's this semester, even with 5 classes. I thought I might get my first C since re-entering college. I am sooo happy! But I will even be happier to be done! (One more semester then my masters! Only 30 years! Can you believe it?)

4. I spent time in Las Vegas at several Salvation Army sights on Monday. Homeless people everywhere! The tent city made me cry. People with small children walking around in the rain with blankets on them. Hundreds of people! 2 men tried to get me to roll down my window. One was really angry when I just ignored him. I think I now feel more gratitude for what I have! I forgot my camera, but took photos on my phone, I just don't know how to retrieve them. so...imagine wet, cold, wandering families, and old men. Garbage, hunger, drugs, and my tears.

3. We were able to get tickets to the Forgotten Carols.

Every year I think I want to go and it is sold out. This year Chris looked on line and they were basically sold out. My Dad went to the ticket office and was able to get tickets! The show was great!

2. Shelly no longer has long hair!
I think I no longer have a little girl. Dang does that mean I am getting older?

And the most shocking of all...
#1. I am no longer a blonde!
I posted a photo, and it came up at the top...what's up with that?

I found the best recepie book in the check stand.

I figured out how to post a picture. Thank you Brooke. (I think) But she lied! It is not as easy as she said AND you can't even read the recepies. Whats up with that? Oh well, this is a learning process. Much like my School, and my Marriage, and my Parenting Skills, and my Thanksgiving Meal.... oh my my my my
This is how I used to handle the turkey carving. (I actually cook two, one the day before for the leftovers, and one the day of for the smell.)Now I have found these

complete instructions on

how to be Pillsburry Paulette:

This is how I will carve this year...
Looks easy enough!

Inside is what to purchase, a time line of when to prepare, and how to cook everything, ...right down to which type of potatoes will do what.

For a yummy corn recepie check out Brooke's creamed corn here:

I don't typically do green salad but this one will be great the next day!

And because loading the pictures in some kind of order is more difficult than my tired brain wants to handle, I will end with the best of all...simple ways to top the pumpkin pie for some flair without the fuss.

However, trust me when I say there are sooo many other good things inside.
If you can't read the small print I will work on it tomorrow, but click the photo and it should enlarge. (I think)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

we're just old!

Thanks for all your emails telling me you don't know how to blog! LOL Well that does date me doesn't it. Most my peers are like me...computer illiterate. So...for you younger and wiser kids, post the how to's for me.

Specifically how to post a picture.

For the rest of you...after you read my blog post, click on comment and you can see comments but more importantly add a comment and lets keep in touch.

I was teaching at the high school last week. All week only 3-4 kids goofed off. The following Monday morning one of them was gone. A fatal accident at the school took his life and left many others aghast. I watched the crises intervention team at work. You just never know the influence you leave on others. Thank you to all you who have been a part of my life.

What would you take with you? Is less more?

I have been reading blogs for a long time. A couple years ago I had family tell me to start a blog. I just never thought I could be that open. Just a few days ago I decided to look further into it...posted, posted a picture and stated... "This is my first blog, but I don't know if I will come out of the closet yet". I then posted on a blog I frequently read and my photo came up! WOW! I felt exposed! Quickly I deleted my first post and have thought about it for a couple days. I will post and see how it goes...or doesn't go.

I imagine my blog about fun times, people in general, decorating, food...and more food...and least of all about me, until I get brave. My first question would be to anyone who happens by this way. If you could go back in time to the Civil War era, with one piece of knowledge you currently have. What would you take with you and why? Would your knowledge change humanity?

I have often wondered about this. Spurred on by the Amish influence in my life. The main thing I noticed about an Amish life style for me is that I would have to get used to new smells! (no daily showers) And less mobility. Sometimes the simplicity may be nice though. If I could go back with one piece of knowledge it would have to be something about bacteria or even infection and how to fight it.

for fun check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsfVw9xxoNY for Weird Al's version of Amish Paradise. He is pretty close to right on from what I saw.
